1.2 Seasons and months

VOCABULARY: January to December, spring, summer, autumn, winter.

FUNCTION: Asking for and giving information about dates and birthdays.

Unit Two

2.1 School subjects

VOCABULARY: Science, PE, ICT, Geography, Music, History, Maths, English, Art.

FUNCTION: Talking about the school timetable.

2.2 School rooms

2.3 Days of the week

Unit Four

4.1 Physical description

VOCABULARY: bald, freckles, wavy hair, spiky hair, straight hair, fringe, moustache, beard, ponytail, curly hair, glasses.
STRUCTURES: What's (he) like? He's (plump). He's got (a beard).
FUNCTION: Describing people physically.

4.2 Descriptive adjectives

VOCABULARY: young, old, plump, slim, short, tall.
STRUCTURES: He's (young). He's got (glasses) and (spiky blond hair). Has he got (glasses)? Yes, he has. / No, he hasn't.
FUNCTION: Describing classmates and people in pictures.

Unit Five

5.1 Personal possessions

VOCABULARY: helmet, notebook, camera, compass, sleeping bag, magnifying glass, rainproof jacket, trekking shoes, torch, rucksack.
STRUCTURES: Axel's (rucksack) is green. Is it Martha's (sleeping bag)? Yes, it is. / No, it isn't.
FUNCTION: Describing possessions.

5.2 Natural places

VOCABULARY: waterfall, river, lake, volcano, mountain, cave.

Unit Six

6.1 Wild animals

FUNCTION: Describing animals and their abilities.

6.2 Parts of the body

STRUCTURES: It's got (green legs). Its whiskers are long.
FUNCTION: Giving detailed descriptions of animals.

Unit 7 Feelings

7.1 Asking and explaining about feelings.

FUNCTION: Using invented personalities to express a range of feelings. Adopting different perspectives: toddler, pensioner, worker who commutes, teacher etc.

7.2 Music and emotions.

FUNCTION: Talking about how music makes you feel. Listening and speaking exercises using various genres of music (classical, jazz, blues, opera etc.)
